Single Ply Casing
With one layer of nylon wrapped from bead to bead, a single ply
conforms well to the terrain and offers a reasonable weight.

Wire bead
A sturdy material is needed to hold the tire against the rim when
inflated. Wire is used to ensure the bead will not expand, but wire
is also heavier.

Foldable bead
A foldable bead also stays tight to the rim but is lighter weight
and easier to transport. The bead created of an Aramid or Kevlar®
material.

Threads per inch
The number of nylon threads that cross through one square inch
of the tire’s casing. Lower TPI provides improved puncture and tear
resistance, but also increases the overall weight of the tire. Higher
TPI conforms more to the terrain, offering a smoother, more supple
ride and offers a lighter weight construction.

CST TPI ratings are the threads-per-inch of a single ply casing, as
compared to some competitor TPI ratings.

Compound

The rubber compound enhances the general performance of a tire, providing greater riding advantage.
CST offers two compound formula options - single and dual.

Single Ply Casing
One compound throughout the tread optimized for
longevity and performance.

Wire bead
Two compounds comprised of a harder, longer lasting
center and a softer gripping corner.

Puncture Protection
High Protection consists of an extra-thick 5mm layer of rubber between the tread and the casing. Since the rubber has a strong rebound characteristic, debris is more likely to exit the tire than to continue through and cause damage.   Kevlar® Inside incorporates Kevlar® fibers into a 1.5mm layer of natural rubber between the tread and the casing. These fibers resist cuts and tears from road debris, while the extra rubber keeps sharp objects from traveling through to penetrate the tire.
Nylon Cap features a thin 0.5mm rubber coated fabric positioned within the casing to provide an acceptable level of puncture resistance. Nylon Cap technology protects
the tire from bead to bead, and is used along with EPS
puncture protection technology for maximum protection.
3MM LDP consists of an extra-thick 3mm layer of rubber between the tread and the casing. Since the rubber has a strong rebound characteristic, debris is more likely to exit the tire than to continue through and cause damage.
Exceptional Puncture Safety offers an added layer of proprietary rubberized poly-fiber material between the tread and the casing. The tight weave of this lightweight, puncture-resistant layer prevents foreign objects from penetrating the casing and damaging the tube.   APL Anti-Puncture features a respectable 0.7mm layer of rubber between the tread and the casing. This additional rubber layerassists in preventing penetration through
the tire.
